Fencing Hackham West

Colorbond Fencing, Gates & Repairs for Your Home

Reliable Fencing Close to Home

Hackham West was mostly vineyards and farmland until the late 1970s, when the streets named after European cities, like Warsaw, Oslo and Amsterdam, were laid out. It sits between the Southern Expressway, Main South Road, Beach Road and Honeypot Road, with long green reserves and a bike path following the old Willunga railway line.

Lots of homes here back onto those reserves, and many of the original fences are now over 40 years old. We’ve been in the fencing business for 9 years, and our work here is mostly replacing worn boundary fences, fixing storm damage and adding new side and driveway gates.

Our Range of Fencing Services

We handle all kinds of residential fencing Adelaide homeowners need, from one loose panel to a whole new boundary.

Colorbond Fencing

Colorbond is the most popular upgrade from an old timber or fibro fence. It’s private, strong and never needs painting. Shades like Monument and Woodland Grey look sharp against a green reserve.

Which Fence Is Best for Your Home?

Each material has pros and cons. Here’s a quick, honest guide.

Colorbond

Best for privacy. Steel panels that last for years with no painting. The catch is fewer style choices, the odd dent and panels that heat up in summer.

Aluminium Slat

Best for street appeal. Modern and rust-proof. It costs more than Colorbond, and the gaps mean a bit less privacy.

Timber

Best for a classic look. Easy to repair, but timber needs staining every few years and is prone to rot and termites. Plenty of older timber fences here are being swapped for Colorbond.

Chainwire and other security fencing is the cheapest way to fence a big area, but it gives no privacy.

How Much Does Fencing Cost in Hackham West?

Most standard Colorbond boundary fences cost $200 to $300 per linear metre. Under the Fences Act 1975 (SA), neighbours can usually share the cost of a dividing fence.

Length and Height

The longer and taller the fence, the more panels, posts and concrete it needs.

Slope and Access

Narrow side access, sloping yards and established gardens add labour, and some blocks need retaining walls first.

Removing the Old Fence

Some older fences are fibro and may contain asbestos. SafeWork SA rules say a licensed removalist must take it away, and we’ll point it out at the measure-up.

Hackham West Fencing FAQs

Do I need council approval to build a fence in Hackham West?

Usually not. The City of Onkaparinga says Colorbond fences up to 2.1 metres high don’t need approval in general residential areas. Fences within 6 metres of a corner where two roads meet must stay under 1 metre, and anything over the limits needs a development application.

Yes, plenty of homes here back onto reserves or the bike path. We can replace the fence and keep the job neat. If your fence borders council land, check with council about who pays, as the usual neighbour cost-sharing rules may not apply.

A standard boundary fence usually takes one to two days on site. We’ll give you a firm timeframe after the measure-up.

Usually $200 to $300 per metre, depending on height, colour and access. Your neighbour may share the cost.

Yes, we also work in Hackham, Huntfield Heights, Christie Downs, Morphett Vale, Noarlunga Downs and the rest of the southern suburbs.

Yes. We provide photos, notes and an itemised quote to support your claim.

Yes. A full-height Colorbond fence with a plinth along the bottom stops most dogs digging under or seeing through. Tell us about your dog and we’ll suggest the right height.

Colorbond is solid, private and low maintenance. Aluminium slats look more modern and let light through, with a little less privacy. A popular combo is slats at the front and Colorbond down the sides and back.

Autumn and spring are ideal, with easier digging and good conditions for concrete. We install all year, but booking before summer helps you avoid the rush.

The most common are frameless glass, semi-frameless glass, aluminium tubular and aluminium slat. Every pool fence in South Australia must meet AS 1926.1, so check the SA Government pool and spa safety rules first.

Look for a written quote, real Google reviews and photos of past jobs, and check what’s included in the price. Avoid anyone who asks for full payment upfront.
