Colorbond
Private and practical. Long lasting steel with nothing to paint. It does dent, styles are limited and panels get hot in summer.
Aluminium Slat
Clean and modern. Won’t rust and suits contemporary homes. It costs more than Colorbond, and the gaps give a bit less privacy.
Timber
Warm and traditional. Timber is easy to repair, but it needs staining every few years and is prone to rot and termites.
Chainwire and other security fencing is the cheapest way to fence a large area, but it gives no privacy.

Usually not. The City of Onkaparinga says Colorbond fences up to 2.1 metres high don’t need approval in general residential areas. Fences within 6 metres of a corner where two roads meet must stay under 1 metre, and anything over the limits needs a development application.

When is the best time of year to put in a fence?
Autumn and spring are the sweet spots, with easier digging and good conditions for concrete. We install all year, though booking before summer helps you avoid the rush.
What kinds of pool fencing are available?
The main options are frameless glass, semi-frameless glass, aluminium tubular and aluminium slat. Every pool fence in South Australia must meet AS 1926.1, so check the SA Government pool and spa safety rules first.
